It was popular to forge slim and light blades in the late Edo period for woman, in past times any old samurai wore slim blades in the cities due to its light weight, also it was fast and still effective in a sudden duel inside a narrow alleyway or backstreet, also so was a very practical blade in the city but mostly and principally used by the Samurais wives and daughters in house.
